It truly is the end of an era – Ted Stevens, the longest-serving Republican senator in history and a force on Capitol Hill for decades, conceded his re-election loss today.
The end was not what Mr. Stevens would have scripted – a defeat just weeks after his conviction in federal court on ethics charges. The final votes were counted Tuesday, his 85th birthday, and the news came after his colleagues considered but postponed a vote on banishing him from the Republican ranks. (The Caucus)

Now this is what I am talking about. Another city trying to save their children. I totally agree with this move.
Jeff Savage I agree with your comments however it is up to us to put up safeguards to attempt to save our children.
Some folks have complained about curfews in different towns however when a child get hurt or killed they respond but a curfew is a proactive approach. Yep I know the curfew will punish some of the good children who would want to hang out however many times it is the innocent by-standers who ends up getting hurt or killed.
I understand what Bari Muhammed and Justin Mollarkey are saying about possible fines that would be issued against parents but everything comes with a price.
I feel that the following comment by Chief Anderson who said an underage child detained by police is not under arrest and won't be fined. However, parents or adults who knowingly allow a child to break curfew could face a fine ranging from $50 up to $500. This is fair in my opinion.
After reading this article I am glad to see that Bennie Rountree a longtime activist was supporting the curfew. I had seen him on the local news standing as Jeff Savage was talking so I did not know if he was for or against. Thank you Mr. Rountree a man of your wisdom for supporting the curfew.
Thank you Pitt County especially Councilwomen Rose Glover and Mildred Council whom I know personally for doing the right thing and I hope that this will convince Rocky Mount and other cities to move forward asap. I also know Bennie Rountree and Jeff Savage so I can relate to the folks in Pitt County.
