A 20-year-old man who shot a police officer Sunday during a traffic stop later killed himself outside a local car dealership, authorities said Tuesday. WRAL
C. Dancy II - TPA Opinion: This is just so sad. What can we do to reach our young black males? It appears that some are just so confused that they rather take a chance with their life. I have tried to figure out what is going on with these young folks? I know it can be tough as a young male just trying to do the right thing. I look at how I got involved with politics in the early 90's and some of the old guards disrespected me as I tried to be a part and waited for them to groom young folks as they preached they would do? I question all of the black present and past politicians since the early 90's to name one young person they have groomed in the political arena. I stayed actively involved because I was determined that I would show them that they could not run me away from politics and community organizations. I have seen many young folks get involved to be driven away. For years I was the youngest active person in the Democratic Party so that automatically gave me a seat at the table because the 3rd Vice Chair position had to be of a certain age. Because I had a mind of my own, I was said to be out of control but I have stated it a many of times that I will challenge anyone when it comes to politics because I have done my homework and I have a network second to none.
