Today I attended the Creating A Culture Of Learning . . . What matters, for every individual Community Roundtable Luncheon at the Gateway Technology Center located at 3400 North Wesleyan Blvd. Rocky Mount NC on the North Carolina Wesleyan College Campus. The discussion was about how we, as citizens, can create and implement a Culture of Learning and becoming a community that motivates, nurtures, and rewards learning. Sponsors were Rocky Mount Organizations: United Way, The Down East Partnership for Children, The Children’s Museum & Science Center at the Imperial Center and the Boys and Girls Club.
We had a very diverse group of folks and it was not a dull moment. I will give a more detailed report when I receive it from the sponsors.
At the end of the day we were given a tour of the facility by Marilynn Anselmi Director of Academic Programs NCSU & ECU Distance Education Gateway Technology Center. Simply awesome describes the facility. Mrs. Anselmi made us feel very welcome and the tour was awesome as well. I was simply amazed at the facility that sits directly in front of my workplace.
Mrs. Anselmi stated that the facility is totally wireless and that it reaches out in the parking lot and anyone is free to use it. They have a public room for the citizens to come in among the other training rooms that are used by GTC Inc. Gateway Technology Center, NC State and East Carolina Universities and NC Wesleyan where the Technology Center sits on their grounds.
I dare you to stop by and visit the facility because you will be amazed at what the Technology Center has to offer. Visit www.gatewaytechnologycenter.com and/or contact Marilynn Anselmi @ anselmim@ecu.edu or marilynn_anselmi@ncsu.edu 252.446.2585.
