I totally agree with the opinion of the Rocky Mount Telegram. The only thing missing is I wish both counties had Sunday Voting but since they don't I hope the people will take advantage of what we do have. The most important thing is that it do not cost either county.

Tarboro NC - Edgecombe County Board of Elections reconvene to discuss One-stop voting applications

I had heard yesterday that there would be another meeting today (Wednesday, August 27) to act on the One-stop application. I didn't see it in the papers so after leaving work I called to the BOE office to see if there was actually a meeting. Yes it was.

I attended the meeting and finding out there was a space for public comments, I decided to speak. I commended the board for convening and giving me the opportunity to speak. I asked the BOE to do whatever they could to help enhance the voting in NC. I said since there is money coming down from the State that they should take advantage of it. I said no we can't predict how many people will come out to vote but we do expect there will be many simply because of Senator Barack Obama being the Democratic Party nominee. I said I didn't speak at the last week Monday but I was hoping that Sunday voting was going to be included because people ought to be able to vote 7 days a week. I said I be glad when I see the day that Election Day will become a holiday. I said I hope that the board will open the 2 addition sites that were requested last week and that I felt that the pre-clearance from the Justice Department should not be a problem. I said that of course they knew I keep up with what is going on around the state and I said that atleast 2 other cities New Bern and Wilson were meeting today (same day of this meeting) or met this week to address the community request as well.

Tia Stanley Democracy NC followed and she stressed their was no problem with the pre-clearance and that the board could move forward and present their plans up until the 29th and it should be no problem.

Roosevelt Higgs said he echoed what Stanley and I had said and that he would yield his time to Rev. Thomas L. Walker.

Walker addressed the board and asked them to move forward and not worry about the pre-clearance.

The board voted to send up an app
