Rocky Mount NC - Civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis D - Ga. tells voters to elect Obama

As always Rep. John Lewis did a great job of speaking truth to power. He started out letting the people know he was a country boy who raised chickens, hogs and cows on the family's 110 acre farm that his parents purchased for $300.00. He said they still own all of the land today. He said many in the crowd know how to get out the vote but they didn't know anything about raising chickens and only knew about Bojangles, Popeyes, Churches Chickens and Ms. Winters.
Rep. Lewis speech was awesome.
The political rally on Saturday morning at Martin Luther King Jr. Park was billed as a nonpartisan “Get Out To Vote” event.
But the event was clearly focused on convincing people to vote for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama. (Rocky Mount Telegram)
