It is a damn shame the good ole boys have really done it to the 32 cities. A contract that says if these cities want to buy out they must pay the remaining balance plus continue to get service from ElectriCities for 10 more years.
"Can you get out of that agreement?" asked Ken Raber, senior vice president of ElectriCities Services and the N.C. Eastern Municipal Power Agency. "The answer is 'yes' you can get out of that agreement. You may not like the conditions of it but you can get out."
Another contract Wilson has in NCEMPA is a supplemental sales agreement that requires the city to buy all of its electricity through NCEMPA. The city would need to give a 10-year notice if it wanted to get out of the contract. (Wilson Times)

Who dreamed up this nonsense that is so complicated and dictatorial that we cannot get out of it? I have never heard of anything so stupid. We have sold our future to a group that has demonstrated corruption. We cannot get our future back.Posted by Anonymous
