Move A Mountain of Economic Disaster

http://wilsontimes.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2645

More and more CEOs, CFOs are being replaced for incompetence and mismanagement.

Failing Institutions - Wachovia. Lehman Brothers. AIG. Merrill Lynch. Fannie Mae. Freddie Mac. And, let’s not forget Enron.

Mortgaging ourselves to foreign countries.

There are broken systems, poor oversight, excessive spending, mismanagement, grossly high salaries, golden parachutes, grossly generous raises, CEOs and CFOs skirting procedures.

We have our own financial scandal here. ElectriCities. Coal and nuclear fuel costs increasing due to global trade. Transportation costs soaring.

Just like the above organizations, we have all the elements of a broken system. Poor oversight, excessive spending, mismanagement, grossly high salaries, golden parachutes, grossly generous raises, CEOs and CFOs skirting procedures. It is not enough that we have rising costs but we also have abuse of the system and us. The abuse needs to stop. IWe have elements of that abuse in the recent rate increase and how it was handled. A grossly mismanaged rate increase, chronyism, politics as usual, lobbyists run amuck. Incompetence should not mean taxpayers bail out this institution.

ElectriCities. Instead of a Congress talking about it and looking for solutions, we have our City Council and there is a deafening silence on the issue.

I liked what I saw when I looked back at James Protzman's Shock Week on BlueNC

Well, this is the week when the ElectriCities board meets in Raleigh. Friday at 9 am. In all likelihood, board members will gloss over the damning record of management incompetence, and once again assure customers they're doing all they can in a tough environment. Hey, everybody makes multi-million-dollar mistakes, right? Poor CEO, it's not really his fault.

And guess who gets the short end of the stick?

ElectriCities customers.

Kudos to the interpid bloggers pushing this issue to the front of the public consciousness. It ain't easy when the media, elected officials, ElectriCities management and the board are all in bed together.

Great analogy to Wachovia!

And great buzz going on the blogs. Nice work.
This is what it takes to move mountains. You all are really doing what's needed - and sticking with it day-in and day-out. That's how the OLF grannies stopped the Navy, but hopefully it won't take five years for the ElectriCities board to do it's ---- job and bring in some accountability.

We are moving a mountain and have to work it day and night. Demand Accountability.

Finally someone doing the right thing. Great work

Pasquotank eyes hiring freeze policy
Board would have to OK filling vacancies

Seeking a lean government for tough economic times — but one also strong enough to provide necessary services — Pasquotank County Manager Randy Keaton presented a proposed hiring freeze policy to county commissioners this week.

THIS IS THE RIGHT WAY TO DEAL WITH TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES. ELECTRICITIES COULD DO THIS AND WIN SOME FAVOR.
