Rocky Mount NC - Leaders seek aid for utility bills

In my opinion this was not a wasted trip because agencies like Nash Edgecombe Economic Development Incorporation (N.E.E.D. Inc.) of Rocky Mount that serves Edgecombe, Nash, Wilson and Halifax County and other entities distributes these funds. However they can not if they do not have the funds.

I think while Blackwell and Knight is not in position (do not serve on the ElectriCities board), they are not able to do anything but voice their opinions about ElectriCites just like the citizens. But former mayor Rocky Mount Fred Turnage serves on the board and has a vote.

So I guess some think that Blackwell and Knight will not continue to speak out against Tilton and the ElectriCities board. I don't hardly think that will be the case and I bet they will but time will tell.

Councilmen Reuben Blackwell and Andre Knight met with the delegation last week to urge that emergency funding be allocated for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program before the coming winter. The federal program helps pay the winter heating bills or summer cooling bills of low-income and elderly people. Nash and Edgecombe counties had been receiving about $100,000 a year from the program, and the program was helping some of the area’s most needy residents pay their power bills, Blackwell said. I was told by Fred Turnage that it was way more complicated than I thought.

Perhaps the $ 11,000.00 plus dollars that knight, blackwell and the other buffoons on the city council spent on their vacation to Myrtle could have been better used to help these governmental parasites with their utility bills.

Note: Ignant the money that they went to DC to talk about does one does not have to be on governmental assistance. One must meet the guidelines which falls under weatherization and etc. But this is what happens when ignant folks like you make ignant comments and mislead folks.

But anyone who promotes a known criminal Roosevelt Higgs by mentioning him in a previous post has issues anyway. LOL C. Dancy II - Editor

I bet it the truth be known you are probably a criminal and that is why you are hiding behind a code name. Love it when folks hide behind a code name and talk about others who are just trying to survive because everyone is not a governmental parasite as you say. C. Dancy II - Editor

Monday, September 15, 2008 - Electricities and spending

Mr. Dancy,

I read your site and I have read all the comments on the Rocky Mount Telegram. Some of us met today and talked and here is where a lot of us are weighing in.

1. http://www.wilsontimes.com/Opinion/Letters/Story/Wilson-utility-customer-wants-some-answers--
The folks in Wilson have written some good letters. Mr. Barber called for CUTS at ElectriCities and it made a lot of sense. I have heard that he was contacted by ElectriCities and the staff mostly agreed with him.
Mr. Dew has pointed out great information, better than the reporters. Rocky Mount is now really expressing their views.
2. ElectriCities' budget needs to be cut. I agree with Mr. Barber. Cut it now.
3. The CEO has no credibility and he sounds dumb. Get rid of him. This trip was his idea I bet and it is dumb.
4. This assistance program has been around a long time and Congress debates it. Mr. Blackwell and Mr. Knight could have asked the congressmen to meet in Rocky Mount. They would do it and it is more powerful than going to Washington. They should have said NO Tilton, bring them here.
5. This trip appears to be more money wasted. See 4. Congress will debate this issue. Letters and calls from us, and a meeting in Rocky Mount would have been better.
6. Andre Knight is on the power agency and they ELECT the Board Members so he has a voice and he should use it. He can press the power agency to send a message to the Board for CUTS. He can do the same on the Council. They can pass a resolution and send it to ElectriCities. Why not do that?
7. Trips need to stop. The rate needs to be cut and to do that, costs need to be cut at ElectriCities and Tilton and his overpaid runners need to go NOW.
8. Rocky Mount should cut the dues they pay ElectriCities now. I get it that the debt is there but the trade association dues can be cut and we will have $60,000 more in Rocky Mount.
9. People have made good suggestions. Blackwell and Knight can stand up for the suggestions and we will back them. They can do it with a resolution and with motions at tthe power agency on Wed., Sept. 17 at 9 am in Wilson.

Thank you very much.
Kathy Fitch
