ABOUT THE TRAINING
The goal of this training is to improve the level of knowledge, communication, and collaboration involved in addressing the criminal gang issue affecting communities , throughout the nation, The curriculum is based on current policies and proven practices and strategies in the criminal justice field. The training is a collaborative effort among federal partners. Instruction is provided by experienced practitioners and subject-matter experts at no cost to attendees This training was developed in accordance with the US, Department of Justice Initiative for Safer Communities to deliver comprehensive anti- gang prevention, enforcement, and prisoner reentry training for state and local law enforcement and related partner organizations.

Training Format and Tracks: Because all levels of criminal justice have an important role in gang prevention, the Project Safe Neighborhoods Anti-Gang Training Conference is tailored to address concerns of criminal justice practitioners at multiple levels The following tracks are designed to address these varying needs.
Executives Track: Presented in a roundtable format for key leaders, this track will increase awareness of criminal gang issues and initiatives designed to combat the challenges that gangs present.
Line Law Enforcement Track: Designed to provide law enforcement officers, corrections personnel, and probation and parole officers with information to address relevant issues, Presentations include Characteristics of Armed Gang Members and Where Do Crime Guns Come From?
Investigators and Prosecutors Track: Designed to enable investigators and prosecutors to explore gang topics in depth. Presentations include Fugitive Status, Overview of Investigative Tools, and Charging Tools.
Intervention and Prevention Track: Designed to provide specific information for educational professionals and other professionals who interact with gang-involved youth, Presentations include Community Gang Problem Assessment, Working With Probation and Parole, and Overview of Gang Prevention.

Hotel Information: A limited block of rooms has been reserved at the Sheraton Chapel Hill Hotel for the nights of January 28-31,2008, at the government rate of $89 per night, plus tax, for single or double occupancy. Please reference PSN Anti-Gang Training and reserve your room before January 7, 2008. Travel, lodging, and per diem expenses are the responsibility of the attendee. The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) is providing reimbursement for a limited number of rooms. Once your registration is received and accepted, IIR staff will e-mail or fax a confirmation memo. Workshop check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m. on January 29. The opening ceremony will begin at 830 a.m, and the training will begin at 9:15 a.m.
