FYI From the City Manager
Oct. 8, 2007
DATE: October 5, 2007
MEMO TO: Mayor & City Council
FROM: Mitchell Johnson, City Manager
SUBJECT: Items For Your Information
Good News about GTA:
I wanted to share the Triennial Review by FTA of GTA. The cover memo mentions that “It is rare in the triennial review process for a grantee to have no deficiencies, and GTA and its staff are to be commended.” Thanks to Council’s support of GTA we have been able to significantly increase the service levels provided to the community over the last year with the introduction of 30 minute routes and the HEAT service. Both of these improvements have exceeded out expectations in terms of customer acceptance and use levels. The important message here is that the GTA staff was also able to achieve a zero deficiency review from FTA while expanding services so significantly. Kudos to GTA! If you have any questions please contact Jim Westmoreland at 373-2863.
Water Issues - Update
On Monday, October 8, a water conservation campaign will be launched. It is groundbreaking in that it was designed completely in-house and is being jointly sponsored by Guilford County to emphasize the regional nature of the drought and the need for conservation. Contact Pat Boswell, Public Affairs, 373-2600, if you have questions.
PBIC Issue
We have recently determined that during the 82, 83 and 84 Police Basic Law Enforcement Introduction Class (PBLIC) the recruits may be due back pay for time which was not reported correctly. At this time the Police Department is working with Human Resources to determine what the most accurate count of hours worked is so that we can address this issue appropriately. We have already self reported this oversight to the Department of Labor. As we come closer to resolution I expect to update Council with the specifics. If you have any questions please contact Connie Hammond 373-4629.
