The Truth Will Out? Not really.

The truth will out and the Truth will always win and a few more nice high sounding phrases are ones we have all been raised on. However, these and other such statements aren't true at all. If the truth were so powerful the injustices, crimes and pure malice in the world would not be happening with as much frequency as they do.
Recently a very astute blogger made this statement while posting on the Wray case, “You can’t expect to make such a serious accusation against a person, force them out of their job, and expect people to look the other way without evidence.”
Dear Lord I wish this were so, but it isn't and from the vantage point of having watch injustice and inhumanity and cruety and crimes and hatred for many years I had to answer:
I am not sure I can agree with you on this point Sam. This injustice happens everyday and people look the other way. Some see the deceit but look the other way due to malice towards the injured party.
Some, especially colleagues in the workplace, know the truth but choose to remain silent in order to cover their own buns. Of course you can’t blame them for that because those who stand beside a victim if they have something to lose will surely fall with the victim.
Most people however just are too busy to give the episode more than a passing glance and a shake of the head. But there are unfortunately very few who will step up to the plate and point out the falsehoods and demand the truth. Joe Guarino and Ben Holder took some vicious pounding for a long time on their sites for trying to make some sense out of the obviously bogus charge of racism level at David Wray. Joe didn’t know that Wray was not guilty, he just felt the man was not guilty of racism and tried to prove his point on that issue. Then there were the few of us who stayed with Joe and Ben more as moral support. We tho had nothing to lose in doing so except to take some flack from a few who disagreed with us.
The point is that you can not expect people to demand the truth. You can more readily expect people to not want to get involved and therefore look the other way. Criminals know this and are threfore confident they can pull off their crimes.
But now we have this marvelous invention called the Internet which allows like minded people to know each other and come together. Who knows perhaps the world will change one blog at a time. BB
