Is America Being Given Over to Minority Beliefs?

I’m sure most readers will recall the incident where passengers on a US Airways plane identified 6 Muslim imams as exhibiting “suspicious behavior” causing the airlines to hold the imams for questioning upon their arrival in Minneapolis, Minnesota last November. See story here.
Due to this incident the Muslim imams filed a lawsuit against US Airways and “John Does” passengers in which among other issues they demanded the passengers who had reported them be identified.
The Democrats have been hyping the incident and the lawsuit as evidence of American Muslims accusations of Islamophobia.
Thursday Republican Representative Peter T. King, (New York) ranking Republican member on the House Homeland Security Committee offered the motion that all Americans including airline passengers must be protected against lawsuits if they are to be encouraged to report suspicious behavior and possibly prevent a terrorists attack such as the one on the World Trade Centers September 11, 2001.
One would think this was a no-brainer, but surprisingly there was heated debate and several calls for order before the a procedural vote was taken requiring the Democrat’s Rail and Public Transportation Security Act of 2007 be sent back to committee with instructions to add the protective language. The vote passed 304 to 121. One wonders what the 121 were thinking!
Muslim Americans have been using our laws to gain concessions for their cultural and religious beliefs and restrictions. Here in North Carolina there have been two incidents : 1) a female Muslim demanded that she be allowed to cover her face for the picture on her driver’s license. She lost that case. However the irony in the whole affair is that in her native country she would be prohibited from driving let alone having a driver’s license face covered or not!
2) We had the case where a Muslim American wanted to use the Koran upon which to swear his oath in a court of law. His argument was that swearing on the Christian Bible was meaningless to him since he did not believe the Bible was the word of God. That case was laid to rest when it was wisely conceded that the person should be allowed to swear to tell the truth on any book that represented the word of God to him/her.
In another case: a Muslim woman is suing Judge Paul Paruk who in a Detroit Small Claims Court District 31 dismissed her case because she insisted on testifying in her own behalf while wearing what she called a “veil”, but which was in fact a full body covering called a niqub. A niqab is just one step away from the infamous burqa which obscures the eyes as well.
Her suit claims that her religious rights were violated. While the Koran does not specifically require that women wear a covering over their face, many do as a sign of piety and modesty.
In the meantime the Detroit News didn’t seem to have a clue from their headlines which read, “Muslim sues judge who barred veil” “Woman claims her religious rights were violated when asked to remove head scarf.” Paul Egan / The Detroit News March 29, 2007. "Veil"? "Headscarf"?
The hearing in this case is set for April 18 where the woman’s lawyer is asking another judge to order a stay in the case and to require that Judge Paul Paruk recluse himself from the hearing. Let us all hope the second Judge is as wise as the first.
Interestingly, this story was also aired on the blog site “Little Green Footballs” where there were at my last count 213 comments most in favor of allowing the lady, if there was indeed a lady under the “veil”? to remove herself to a country where she would be not be permitted by law to testify in any court let alone bring a suit against someone.
It has been said that the Muslims claim that if they can not defeat us from without then they will do so from within. They are using our laws against us. Or, perhaps I should be more hopeful and say they are TRYING to use our laws against us.
I am not hopeful however when we the majority of Americans have had our lives and our beliefs and our desires denied because of a handful of people who disagree with us. Atheists and other individuals have had prayer removed from our schools, the ten commandments upon which our laws are based removed from our court house steps and schools, nativity scenes removed from public parks, and the list goes on. Some say our bill of rights was written to protect the minority from the majority. What then will protect the majority from the minority?
Will we never learn?

Addition. My respones to bloggers who apparently found these situation entirely reasonable and my reaction that of a troll at best. I am completely amazed at how some people think:
A family, a group, a community, a country have to have rules of behavior so that they can coexist together. Driving on the highways we in the US keep to our right. People don't drive anywhere they want or there would be chaos. Flying in the skies the air planes must be directed and stay at certain altitudes or there would be chaos. In a family there must be a head of the family whom everyone respects and listens to. The one who takes ultimate responsibility for the family or the family ceases to exist. There is a great deal of about healthcare to become a doctor an individual must spend years of study getting three degrees and then on top of that spend several more years in training in hospitals working 60 hours a week as interns before they are permitted to take a test to get their states permission to practice medicine on their own and see patients own, the same goes for teachers, museum curators and heavy machinery operators. Every thing a person does there are certain rules of behavior that is expected to be followed, rules/laws everyone knows and adheres to so there will be no confusion, no discrimination where one individuals wants are favored over the needs of the group as a whole. These rules weren't made to harm the community, they were made over long periods of time when a necessity for them became apparent.
Would you want to step into a persons office who has put up sign that he is a medical doctor without these regulations of the state that assure you he has complied with a certain amount of required study and demonstrated a certain level of knowledge about what he is claiming he can do? Ask yourself the same thing about any of these situations I have brought to your attention with this post and honestly give an answer.
Was it because I used as examples the word Muslim? Is this what was off putting and did it make the whole point sound discriminatory? I used the word Muslim because I was relating actual cases where our societies rules were being challenged by individuals who happened to be Muslims. Rules that none of you would even think about not obeying because for the good and safety of the community you don’t want anyone else disobeying them. They are not bad or harmful rules that these individuals were trying to circumvent, it is not as if the women involved would have been violating one of their religious laws if they showed their faces. Because it is only required by the Koran that they cover their hair. In fact in their native countries where the societies are governed by the laws of the Koran women aren't even allowed to drive. But ask yourself this: What if a person driving an automobile hit your automobile and your spouse and child were killed. This person in order not to be identified pulled a mask over their face. Once more their driver’s license was also distorted with a mask over their face. How could you identify that person in a court of law as the person who killed your spouse and child? A group of masked people came into court and you were told to choose the correct one to place the responsibility of killing your spouse and child. You couldn’t and so there would be no justice for you. The killer would go free to drive and kill again and you would live the rest of your life with pain and anger at the injustice. Now go up and look at the case of the driver’s license and the case of the small claims court.
While you are reading the original post you might also notice that the one about using the individuals own book in which he feels are the words of his God I find perfectly reasonable. I t won’t harm the community to adjust this ruling and it certainly makes more sense than the swearing to tell the truth on a book you don’t believe in. Using the Bible for this swearing process fit the needs of the community in that this country was for centuries basically a Christian country. Now that we are getting large population of others it behooves us to be willing to examine any rules/laws as they come up to see if some compromise can be made to protect both the community and the individual.
Societies can not exist together without these rules. That is all I asked you to do. To consider the rules that were being disobey. Consider their value to the functioning and safety of the community and then make a judgment. As I have already mentioned, in the countries where the rules these women are trying to get our courts to uphold there would be no problems at all because women are not permitted to drive and would not have a drivers license. Nor are women allowed to testify in any court under any circumstances and men do not cover their faces unless they for some reason do not wish to be known.
These then can only be deliberate and well planned efforts to disrupt our society and change our laws. Once one law is breeched can you see the many aspects of that law, or other laws that will then come into question and need to be made to conform with that law? The result will be chaos and a complete disintegration of our legal processes.
